As he walked into my basement with a shirt reading “Art is the New Steel”, I felt a bit nostalgic thinking back to my own time in “The Hammer”. Weakgenes (the artistic brain child of Hamilton, ON, Canada based musician and performing artist, Andrew Spicer) brought a truly unique and fetished flavour to the webcast this week while sharing his Psychedelic Lounge Rock tunes. As MuggleFx noted in the chatroom, the Weakgenes experience is like entering a “retro furturistic cafe”. With intriguing live imagery that may make some audiences uneasy, Weakgenes isn’t afraid to be his own artist; no apologies, no excuses, just great grooves … and the occasional leash and collar.
